About

PURUSHU ARIE – Fashion Designer, Illustrator, Stylist, NIFTian and an Indian Fashion Blogger based in Chennai.

Purushu Arie is the pen name of R V Purusothaman, a fashion designer who is presently based in Chennai. The blog was created in 2009 in order to record my journey as a fashion design student while studying at NIFT New Delhi.

Apart from fashion blogging, I had written the official fashion show reviews for FDCI Designer Mode magazine for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week since SS2012 to AW2013 season. I spent the summer of 2012 designing eco-friendly yoga range for FS Asia, Bangalore.  I spent a year working as menswear designer at Burnt Umber & Lee Cooper team in Mumbai. As of July 2014, I have quit my day job and relocated to Chennai to completely focus on this blog and Rivista di Moda Fashion Magazine.

Purushu's blog is rated as the most influential blog in Delhi by Hindustan Times. On August 2011, the blog was also ranked 15th among 8000+ other fashion blogs across the web by Technorati, highest ever rating for an Indian fashion blog.

I am influenced by the artistic expression of fashion. Love Lee McQueen and John Galliano. Loyal follower of Rei Kawakubo, Phoebe Philo, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf and Christopher Kane.

My expertise includes fashion illustration, draping, pattern making, history of costume and fashion and surface development techniques.

Admire Vincent Van Gough and Leonardo Da Vinci. I am a  sports fanatic, love Rahul Dravid (cricket), Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul Gonzalez, Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid and Spanish football team. I love playing chess and basket ball.

I mostly listen to the evergreen Beatles, Ilayaraja, A R Rahman and recently into Psychedelic Trance. Crazy admirer of Kamal Haasan.

Please, feel free to contact me for my resume/portfolio or any other queries.

Cheers,
Purushu
